1. Prayer of Invocation: Awakening by Chris Tomlin and Reuben Morgan

In our hearts Lord, in this nation,
awakening.
Holy Spirit, we desire
awakening.

For You and You alone
awake my soul;
Awake my soul and sing.
For the world You love
Your will be done;
Let Your will be done in me.

2. The Gospel Song by Drew Jones and Bob Kauflin

Holy God, in love, became
perfect Man to bear my blame.
On the cross He took my sin.
By His death I live again.

3. Death in His Grave by John Mark McMillan

Death In His Grave is a wonderful example of poetry in the context of a corporate worship song. Singer Songwriter John Mark Mcmillan offers a helpful line-by-line analysis of the lyrics in this blog post.

On Friday a thief, on sunday a king
laid down in grief
but woke with the keys
of hell on that day.
The first born of the slain
the man, Jesus Christ, laid
death in his grave.

4. Revelation Song by Jennie Lee Riddle

Worthy is the Lamb who was slain,
holy, holy is he.
Sing a new song to Him who sits on
heaven’s mercy seat.

Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord, God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come.

5. Come Light Our Hearts by Sandra McCracken

Sandra McCracken wrote this song for her church’s Advent liturgy last year. Here’s what she had to say about:

“In planning our services week to week, I found that good longing-centric songs for corporate singing are hard to come by. I have found also that “Come Light Our Hearts” translates well to the season of Lent and other times of expectation and waiting. Thankful for the opportunity this song gives to ask expectantly and repeatedly. I am hopeful that we wait for His light to meet us where we are, through many seasons of life.”

For you, O Lord, our souls in stillness wait
For you, O Lord, our souls in stillness wait
Truly our hope is in You
Truly our hope is in You

O Lord of life, our only hope
Your radiance shines
On all who look — to You in the dark
Emmanuel come, come light our hearts

6. This I Believe (Creed) by Ben Fielding and Matt Crocker

I believe in God our Father
I believe in Christ the Son
I believe in the Holy Spirit
Our God is three in one
I believe in the resurrection
That we will rise again
For I believe in the name of Jesus
