This week’s music set-list review features photos by Gerik Parmele. You’ll find links in the song titles that will allow you to purchase recorded versions of the songs (where available).
This morning David lead us through a meditation (adapted from the men’s HighQuest study) on God as both our Creator and Redeemer. Specific scriptures were read before each song that guided our time of corporate worship and informed what we were singing. Today’s blog will follow the same format. Instead of a separate commentary, I will post links to the verses to allow God Word’s to provide context for the songs.
Meditation 1:
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty – Words: Joachim Neander (1680), Music: Lobe Herren (1665), Arrangement and contemporary chorus by Nathan and Christy Nockels
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of creation!
O My soul, praise Him for He is thy health and salvation!
All ye who hear, now to His temple draw near;
Praise Him in glad adoration!
Meditation 2:
Before There Was Time by Aaron Senseman
Before I was made,
You searched me and knew my ways,
You numbered all of my days,
You set forth the steps I would take.
Meditation 3:
I Will Wait For You by Jodee Lewis
Meditation 3:
Yet this I call to mind,
and therefore I have hope:
Because of the Lord’s great love
we are not consumed,
Your compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
And I will wait for You.
Meditation 4:
Prayer of the Created by Christine Cover, David A. Cover and Andrew Luley
Break my pride to pieces
and scatter it to the wind.
And put in me humility
to rest in Your ways.
For You, help me live;
To You, help me live.
Meditation 5:
One Redeemer – Words: David A. Cover & Patrick K. Miller; Music by Christine Cover & David A. Cover
From start to end,
You are the “Amen!”
to Your promises.
Jesus, my soul’s Savior,
the great story’s One Redeemer.
Enough by Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio
All of You is more than enough
for all of me,
for ev’ry thirst and ev’ry need.
You satisfy me with your love,
and all I have in You
is more than enough.
