Luke Neal, the Young Life Area Director describes the ministry of Young Life in this way:

“Our Young Life Leaders enter into the world of unchurched, disinterested [9-12 graders] (ala John 1:14) in order to build friendships with them so that the Gospel can be heard in human terms.”

Young Life Columbia’s “about” page introduces their ministry this way:

“Young Life doesn’t start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship. These relationships don’t happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency.”
These teens struggle with some of the same things all of us find difficult:
  • Seeing their need for a Savior.
  • Seeing past their stereotypes of Jesus and what it means to follow Him.
  • Suffering from Biblical illiteracy.
  • Trying to run on the “performance treadmill.”

Young Life meets these needs by, “meeting [9-12 graders] right where they are with an expectation of who they can become in Jesus. We incarnationally live out the Gospel in front of them and make Jesus attractive through the way we keep showing up for them.”

Young Life is hosting their 2nd Annual Golf Tournament: Tee It Up for Kids on April 25th:
